BRUSHED: A special stainless steel wire wheel brush is used to impart this classic finish. Standard steel wire wheel brushes while far less expensive are not used: they deposit ferrous steel upon metallic surfaces which eventually could rust.
Appearance: A deep rich soft luster — more than the Sand-Blasted model, less than the Sanded model.
Very scratch resistant.

SANDED: The buckle surface is first sanded with a 60 grit belt and then lightly buffed.
Appearance: Fairly lustrous but not brilliant.
Relatively scratch resistant.

SAND-BLASTED: The buckle surface is air-blasted with high velocity sand. It is provided for hunters, soldiers, militia, SWAT, etc., where non-reflectivity is preferred. It does not have the pizzazz of the other finishes.
Appearance: The most non-reflective of the finishes.
Relatively scratch resistant.

HAMMERED: The buckle surface is first polished to a high luster, and then hammered with a pneumatically driven peening hammer over two thousand times. Hammering hardens metal surfaces.
Appearance: Quite lustrous.
Very scratch resistant.

STRIATED: The buckle surface is striated (micro-grooved) with a special fine grinding wheel. It can be polished if desired. Polishing adds a slight luster, but it is not as lustrous as the Hammered face. It is the most convervative (draws the least attention — as when worn with a suit). The Striated and the Hammered, are the only finishes that can be used with a flush top surface (no round bolts). Both conceal where the flush bolts are. The Striated is a recent development and is equal to the Brushed finish in being exceptionally scratch resistant.

MIRROR: The buckle surface is sanded with finer and finer grades of sand paper, and then polished with finer and finer buffing wheels to a brilliant mirror-like finish.
Appearance: The most lustrous — the most brilliant of all — mirror like.
Stunningly beautiful!
Least scratch resistant, but can be repolished with a buffing wheel.
(This is due to its surface being highly polished.)

BRASS BUCKLES come Hammered or Striated. This minimizes scratches on the softer BRASS and is relatively easy to keep polished.
